Attack on sister sleeping in the verandah, brother killed by playing on his life

UP News: Brothers and sisters were injured in a jackal attack in a village in Bahraich district. One of them rescued himself from the catch of the animal and killed him.

UP News: After wolf in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh, people have come into panic due to the terror of jackal. People in the village are awake overnight and protect their family. Police said on Sunday that two siblings were injured in a jackal attack in a village here. One of them rescued himself from the catch of the animal and killed him. While sleeping in the verandah in Tedia village of Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, Jackal attacked Rajkumar (41) and Sushila (21) and seriously injured him. Both are undergoing treatment in a government hospital. Earlier on Thursday, four people, including three children, were injured in a jackal attack in another village on Thursday. Rajkumar told that we were sleeping on Saturday night. The animal first attacked my sister Sushila and then pounced on my neck. I was a little drunk. I rescued myself, grabbed his neck and kept him caught until he died. The body of the animal is lying at my house.

Incident in Tedia village

The injured villager claimed that it was a wolf, while the Divisional Forest Officer confirmed it as a jackal. Divisional Forest Officer Ram Singh Yadav said that on October 4 at around 8.30 pm, a jackal cut and injured Rajkumar (41) and Sushila (21) in Tedia village of Ramgaon police station area in Bahraich range of Bahraich One Division. He said that the villagers killed the jackal. Jackal’s body has been brought for postmortem. The injured have been sent to the hospital for treatment. This incident took place two days after a similar attack of Jackal in Gandara village of Kaiserganj police station area. Four people including three children Kishan (7), Khatija (2), Rubina (15) and Alisher (40) were injured in the attack. The DFO said that CCTV footage confirmed the attack of the jackal. DFO Ram Singh Yadav said that a wolf, who had been roaming in Majhara Taukali village and surrounding settlements from 9 September, was shot by the forest department team on September 28, when he tried to attack the children.

6 killed so far, 20 injured

Officials said six people, including four children and an elderly couple, were killed and at least 20 villagers were injured in the area between September 9 and 30. 21 task force and other teams are engaged in rescue and search operations and public awareness campaign is also going on. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted an aerial survey of the affected area on 27 September and directed that the animal should be shot if there is a threat to the villagers. DFO Ram Singh Yadav also said that the areas of Kaiserganj and Mahasi tehsils where the wolves have been active have been divided into four sectors. Experts are conducting rescue operations by making strategies.

Command Center built at district headquarters

A command center has been set up at the district headquarters. Patrol teams and expert teams are searching for wolves by installing four drone cameras and 25 cameras traps at sensitive places and patrolling day and night. In the villages affected by the attack, 20 solar CCTV cameras and three trapping cages are being installed and efforts are being made to protect the wolf safely based on the pugmark. Two teams of veterinarians are deployed to make the wolf unconscious. District in-charge minister Surya Pratap Shahi met the bereaved families and assured government assistance, while former cabinet minister Mukut Bihari Verma distributed checks worth Rs 50,000 thousand to 13 injured villagers earlier this week.
