Autonomous Zilla Parishad member brought to Mizoram kidnapped

The BJP general secretary said that the miscreants pulled Singh from his vehicle and took him to Longlai city. The BJP has filed a complaint with the Director General of Police.

Aizawl: A member of the Autonomous Zilla Parishad (LADC) brought in Mizoram went missing. It is said that on Wednesday, while going to Aizawl, he was abducted by anti -social elements near Lunglei city of South Mizoram. In this connection, the BJP’s Mizoram unit has lodged a complaint with the Director General of Police (DGP) Anil Shukla on the disappearance of a member of the autonomous Zilla Parishad (LADC). This member had recently opted to join the BJP after leaving the Zorm People’s Movement (ZPM).

BJP demands legal action against criminals as soon as possible

In a letter sent to the DGP on Thursday, State BJP General Secretary Lalthangmavi said that Zilla Parishad (MDC) member Tuturu Singh, who had recently left ZPM, was abducted by anti -social elements near Lunglei city of South Mizoram on Wednesday while going to Izole. The letter claimed that Singh had decided to join BJP after resigning from JDPM membership and was going to Aizawl to join the saffron party. The BJP general secretary said that the miscreants pulled Singh from his vehicle and took him to Longlai city. Expressing concern about the safety of Singh and his family members, the BJP in its letter urged the DGP to take necessary action and initiate legal action against the criminals as soon as possible. However, Shukla refused to comment on the matter.

The incident took place after the resignation of JDPM’s primary membership of N Jangura, another member of ZPM at Singh and LADC. While Singh was the Deputy Chief Whip. Jungura served as an advisor to the Chief Executive Member (CEM) in the current ZPM of LADC headed by CEM V Jirsanga. Jungura was included in the BJP on Thursday. The BJP and its NDA colleague Mizo National Front (MNF) have claimed to form the next executive committee in the 25 -member LADC.

State BJP President Vanlalmuaka said that he met Governor Vijay Kumar Singh and submitted a petition to claim majority in the council on Wednesday. Officials said that the governor has not yet decided. Vanlalmuaka hoped that Singh could announce the formation of a new BJP -led executive this week. He said that another MDC from ZPM joined BJP on Friday, which led to the total number of party in the council including Singh to 3. The BJP-MNF alliance with 11 members of MNF claimed that it had a majority with 14 members to form the next board in LADC.

Vanlalahuka said that C. Lalmuanantaga, the only Congress member, has also decided to support the proposed BJP-MNF coalition system. The number is 13 to form an executive committee in Lai Parishad. LADC is one of the three ADCs in the southern part of Mizoram, which was built in 1972 for the tribal people and its headquarters Laranjalai. The council has 25 elected members and 4 nominated members.

In the last LADC elections held in December 2020, the ruling party of the state won a majority by winning 20 out of 25 seats, since then LADC has seen a change at least four times, with the last ZPM -led executive committee headed by V Jirsanga, which was included on 27 February this year. Officials said that ZPM now has 10 members, MNF-11, BJP-3 (including Singh) and 1 member of Congress.
