Uttarkashi Cloud Brust: This disaster of Dharali village underlines the seriousness of the natural tragedies coming in Uttarakhand. While the breath of the families of the missing people has stopped, the culture has also been hurt due to the burning of the ancient heritage.
Uttarkashi cloud brust: The havoc of nature in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand is once again broken. Due to the cloudburst on Tuesday, a large part of Dharali village on Gangotri Marg was converted into debris. While dozens of people are missing, an ancient Shiva temple has also been buried in the debris. Relief and rescue work is in full swing, but the rain is not taking the name of havoc.
Teams looking for missing people
The sudden flood in Dharali village on Tuesday afternoon shocked the entire area. This village is one of the major stops of the journey of Gangotri Dham. Every year ‘every milk fair’ is organized here, due to which a large number of people were present at the time of the accident. So far, about 130 people were evacuated, but more than 60 people are feared to be missing. Officials believe that this number can be even more. So far, four deaths have been confirmed, but not a single body has been removed from the rubble.
11 soldiers also missing
The disappearance of 11 soldiers has also been confirmed in this tragedy. According to Army spokesperson Lt Col Manish Srivastava, relief works are headed by Colonel Harshvardhan, Commanding Officer of 14 Raj Rifles, who are standing on the spot with 150 soldiers. The army has also imposed MI-17 and Chinook helicopters for relief and rescue. Despite the disappearance of their own soldiers and damage to the base camp, the soldiers are engaged in the mission.
Ancient Kalp Kedar Temple also contained debris
Not only human life, cultural heritage was also buried in this flood. The ancient Shiva temple ‘Kalpa Kedar’ located in Dharali also went to the natural havoc. It is believed that this temple was already buried under the ground in a disaster, which was discovered during the excavation in 1945. Kedarnath Dham is reflected in the architecture of the temple. The special thing was that devotees used to get down and worship Shivalinga, and Kheer Ganga water used to reach the sanctum sanctorum naturally. Now this temple is once again in the debris, which has caused a deep shock to the faith of the local people.
This disaster of Dharali village underlines the seriousness of the natural tragedies coming in Uttarakhand. While the breath of the families of the missing people has stopped, the culture has also been hurt due to the burning of the ancient heritage. The struggle of the army, local administration and relief parties is still going on, but the question is also, is our development policies getting more heavier than the tolerance of the mountains?
