Shreyas Iyer: There is so much craze for cricket in India that today every child wants to become Kohli, Dhoni and Rohit, but just as every coin has two aspects, so cricket also has a dark side that many people do not know about. Due to this dark side or requirement, many cricketers have to go through a very difficult time despite being in good form. These cricketers include the Indian team’s blistering batsman and Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer. There was a big change in the situation of Shreyas’s BCCI Contract last year. Initially, Shreyas was out of BCCI’s Central Contract due to not participating in domestic cricket. Despite being such a big name for the Indian cricket team, Shreyas had to go through this problem. Let me tell you, 30 -year -old Iyer scored a century in his debut Test match against New Zealand in November 2021 and a half -century in the second innings, with which he became the first Indian player to achieve this feat.
A look at Shreyas’s records
Talk about domestic career, Shreyas Iyer visited United Kingdom in 2014 representing the Trent Bridge Cricket Team. During that time he scored 297 runs at an average of 99, with his highest score 171, which was a record. Shreyas Iyer Debut in List A Cricket in November 2014, playing for Mumbai in the 2014-15 Vijay Hazare Trophy, he scored 273 runs at a 54.60 batting average.
Bought for 2.6 crores in IPL debut itself
Shreyas first came to the headlines when the then Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) bought him in the 2015 IPL auction for ₹ 2.6 crore (about US $ 416,000), tell him that he scored 439 runs in that season and also won the IPL Emerging Player of the Year Award. With this, in the next six seasons, he became the mainstay of the team and his captain, scoring more than 400 runs in four different seasons.
After all, why did Shreyas out of BCCI?

Something similar happened with Shreyas Iyer who was once out of the contract, today he made his place in the team with his hard work and became a star. He was initially excluded from BCCI’s Central Contract due to not participating in domestic cricket, however, he was re-included in the central contract for the 2024–25 session after his commitment to domestic cricket and a spectacular performance in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
