Extradition of Mehul Choksi: Indian fugitive diamond trader Mehul Choksi may soon return to India. Giving a big blow to Mehul Choksi, the Belgian court has approved his extradition to India. Punjab National Bank scam accused Mehul Choksi tried hard to stop the extradition, but India presented such evidence in the Belgian court that none of its efforts worked. The Belgian court said that all the allegations leveled against Choksi by India are serious and there is no threat to his security in India.

Choksi had made these allegations

Let us tell you that Mehul Choksi had made many allegations against India regarding his extradition. Choksi alleged in the Belgian court that there is a threat to his security in India. His lawyers said that in India he would be treated inhumanely and kept in a dirty jail, which would put his health at risk. In response to this, India presented photographs of Mumbai jail in the Belgian court.

India showed clear pictures of the jail

India handed over photographs of the barracks of Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail to the authorities, which refuted all the allegations of Mehul. These pictures were of the same barrack in which Mehul Choksi will be kept after extradition. Clean barracks and toilets were shown in the pictures. From this it became clear that all kinds of basic facilities are available in India. Mehul Choksi’s dirty allegations were proved to be false by the Indian evidence and the Belgian court ruled in favor of India.

What did the Belgian court say?

After seeing India’s evidence, the Belgian court said that there is no legal obstacle in Choksi’s extradition. Choksi is not a citizen of Belgium, he is a foreign citizen. The allegations against Mehul Choksi are so serious that his extradition is completely valid. Choksi will get fair trial and security in India. With this, the way for Mehul’s extradition to India has been cleared. Now it remains to be seen when fugitive Mehul Choksi returns to India.
