The NDA in power has cleared the way for forming the government again by defeating the Grand Alliance. The special thing is that out of the 25 ministers of the state who contested the elections, 24 returned after winning from their respective constituencies. Only one minister could not save his seat.

Sumit Singh, who was contesting on JDU ticket, was defeated by RJD candidate Savitri Devi by about 13,000 votes. This is the same Savitri Devi, whom Sumit had defeated 5 years ago. Sumit Kumar Singh is the son of late Narendra Singh, who was a special aide of Nitish Kumar and a senior minister of the state. In the previous government, Sumit Singh had got the responsibility of Science, Technology and Education Department.
