Bihar Election: The counting of votes for the assembly elections held in Bihar will start from 8 am on Friday (November 14), the results of which will decide the direction of the politics of the state. Voting for the 243-member Assembly was held in two phases on November 6 and 11, in which 67.13 percent people exercised their franchise, creating a historic record. Initial trends of vote counting are expected by 9 am. The Election Commission has set up 46 counting centers in 38 districts of the state to ensure a fair process. People’s eyes are on whether JD(U) supremo and Bihar’s longest serving Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will win a record fifth term or the state will see a change of power. Strict security arrangements have been made for counting of votes in the entire state. There is a heated atmosphere of discussions about victory and defeat in the offices of political parties. A total of 7.45 crore voters decided the fate of 2,616 candidates.

There will be videography of the entire process

According to a statement issued by the Election Commission, the EVMs and VVPATs used in the elections have been sealed inside the strong room under a double-lock system. The Election Commission said that the entire process will be videographed in the presence of central observers and agents appointed by the candidates. Two-tier security has been ensured at the counting centres. The statement said that Central Armed Paramilitary Forces (CAPF) have been deployed at the internal level, while state police have been deployed at the external level. Besides, 24/7 CCTV surveillance and other security provisions have also been implemented at the counting centres. A control room has been set up in each strong room complex, in which senior officers of the district will be deployed. All district election officers and returning officers of the respective assembly constituencies have been instructed to regularly inspect the strong rooms.
