Dadra and Nagar Haveli Election: There is an uproar regarding the local elections in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Congress says that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has hijacked the elections. BJP conspired with the officials to get around 80 percent of the nomination papers rejected. The opposition party said it will raise the matter with the election officials responsible for local body elections in Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu and will also approach the Bombay High Court on the issue.
Votes were not stolen, the election itself was stolen.
Manikrao Thackeray, Congress in-charge of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, alleged that election rigging is taking place in the Union Territory. At present, there is no response from the Election Commission of the Union Territory and the Bharatiya Janata Party on the claims of Congress. The Congress in-charge said that beyond vote theft, the entire election has been stolen in this area. BJP has planned so well that no one is able to muster the courage to stand against it and that is why the entire election has been hijacked. During this, along with Manikrao Thackeray, Congress Committee Secretary co-in-charge Anjali Nimbalkar and Dadra and Nagar Haveli Congress President Prabhu Tokia were also present.
Forms not uploaded on website
Manikrao Thackeray said that the nomination dates for the elections were announced between October 10 and 17 and hence the nomination forms should have been posted on the website so that it remains transparent among the people. He claimed that no such form was mentioned on the Commission’s website on October 10. After this, a list of documents was made available on 13 October. When people went to collect these documents, they were told that the employees had gone for election training. Not only this, those who somehow managed to fill the form were rejected during the investigation. A conspiracy was hatched to stop people from filling the form. Thackeray alleged that not even a single BJP candidate’s form was rejected, while about 80 percent of Congress’s forms were rejected. He alleged that BJP, along with officials, has usurped the entire election.
