Calcutta HC strict on Murshidabad violence

Murshidabad Violence: West Bengal is seeing heavy violence due to opposition to the Waqf (Amendment) Act. Meanwhile, the Calcutta High Court has directed the state government to deploy CRPF personnel.

Murshidabad Violence : The Calcutta High Court has shown strictness about heavy violence in many places in West Bengal and especially in Murshidabad. Describing the situation as serious and unstable, the court has instructed the Mamta government of the state to deploy central forces at the earliest. So far, three people have died in this violence and many people have been seriously injured. Murshidabad districts are allegedly affected by the ongoing protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Act. The court said that this instruction will not be limited to Murshidabad only and if needed, security can be increased even to other districts.

Case filed against 138 people amid heavy violence

The Calcutta High Court has said that the deployment of central forces will not be limited to Murshidabad district alone. If this violence is feared to spread in other districts, it will be expanded. A division bench headed by Justice Saumen Sen said that we cannot ignore various reports which in view West Bengal shows the barbarity of violence in many districts. The court further said that apart from Murshidabad, violent incidents have also been seen in South 24 Parganas district Amatla, North 24 Parganas district and Champadani of Hugli. At the same time, the most rage of violence has been seen in Murshidabad district where three people have died and the local police has registered a case against 138 people in this case.

Violence cannot be ignored at all

At the same time, the court also said that the situation will continue to be done in the same way the central forces will be taken back gradually. The court admitted that in time, necessary steps were not taken by the state government and if this happened, such violence would have been seen. Apart from this, the court said that action should be taken against the culprits on a war footing to prevent atrocities on innocent citizens. The duty of the court is to protect the citizens and emphasizing it, the bench said that every person has the right to life and it is the responsibility of the state to ensure that they protect the properties of every person.

At the same time, the bench said in clear terms that it cannot be denied that heavy violence has been seen in different parts of West Bengal and these incidents cannot be ignored in any way. Explain that the court was hearing the petition which was filed by the Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly and he requested the immediate hearing on this petition.
