Car fell into a river in Uttarakhand, five family members drowned

Five people of a family in Faridabad drowned after a car fell into a river on Saturday morning in Tehri district of Uttarakhand.

New Tehri: Five people of a family in Faridabad drowned after a car fell into a river on Saturday morning in Tehri district of Uttarakhand. Devprayag station house officer Mahipal Singh Rawat said that Mahindra Thar, carrying six people near Bagwan village on the Badrinath National Highway at around 6 am, crashed and fell into the Alaknanda river. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) rescued a woman.

According to the SHO, this family of Faridabad was going to attend a wedding in Gauchar in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, when this accident happened. The deceased have been identified as Sunil Gusain (44), his wife Meena, his son Dahari (14) and daughter Sujal (12) and Madan Singh Gusain’s son Aditya (16). The SHO said that Aditya’s mother Anita was rescued and was admitted to the hospital after being seriously injured.

He told that the car Sunil Gusain was driving. The deceased couple and their two children were residents of 4800 military colony in Faridabad, while Aditya was a resident of Durga Colony in Roorkee. The SHO said that the bodies were recovered after hours of search operations in the Alaknanda river by Deep Divers of SDRF and police personnel. He said that the bodies have been sent to the base hospital of Srikot by government ambulance.
