Karnataka News: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Wednesday that the central government takes the final decision to include any community in the Scheduled Tribes (ST), the state government only sends recommendations. The proposal to include Kuruba in the ST list was strongly opposed by some scheduled community. On this, he said that there is no need to protest anyone and if the community is eligible, it will be included. The Karnataka government is considering to include the Kuruba community in present time, which Siddaramaiah himself comes in the ST list. Please tell that this step was also taken by the previous government.

No need to protest: Siddaramaiah

Siddaramaiah said that the central government will take a final decision on this and we will only make recommendations. Siddaramaiah answered a question of protesting against the Valmiki community to include Kuruba in the Scheduled Tribes list. At the same time, while talking to reporters, CM Siddaramaiah said that no one needs to protest. If the community has to enter the Scheduled Tribes, they will be included. Let me tell you that Kuruba currently falls in the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category. He is seen as a major OBC community in the state after Lingayat and Vokkaliga. Also, to include any community in the Scheduled Tribes list, the state government has to make a recommendation to the Center.

Caste census will be held at a cost of Rs 420 crore

At the same time, while responding to the criticism of his government by BJP leaders regarding social and educational, the Chief Minister said that the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly R Ashok only talks. We are saying that a socio-educational survey is being done to know the social and educational situation, so that according to it, development programs can be planned. He further said that the social and educational survey, known as caste census, will be conducted between September 22 and October 7 at an estimated cost of Rs 420 crore. The BJP delegation complains to the Governor about the caste census list, including a dual identity of at least 46 castes and includes the names of both Christians and Hindu castes.
