NCERT Ghaznavi Chapter: NCERT has added a new chapter in the Social Science book of class VII. The name of this chapter ‘The Ghaznavi Invasions’ has been added.

NCERT Ghaznavi Chapter: Now children will be told the complete history of the invaders in schools. National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has added a new chapter in the social science book of class VII. The name of this chapter is ‘The Ghaznavi InvasionsIn this, the complete history of the invasion of Mahmud Ghaznavi will be taught to the children in detail. Earlier, only one paragraph was given on this topic in the children’s book. Now children will read in detail how many times and where Ghaznavi attacked India.
Somnath temple looted 17 times
The new book has come in the name of ‘Society Study: India and beyond’. In this, a complete chapter of six pages has been added on Ghaznavi. It is told in the book that Ghaznavi killed Hindus and looted temples to propagate Islam. It has been told in the new book that Ghaznavi first attacked the temples of Mathura. After this he destroyed and looted the temples of Kannauj. From here he went to Somnath Shiv Temple in Gujarat. He attacked the temple several times and looted all the treasure there. It is also told in the book that in 1950, the then President Dr. Rajendra Prasad re-inaugurated the Somnath temple.

Ghaznavi attacked and looted Hindu temples, propagated Islam and killed non-Muslims. In the book, quoting Persian scholar Alberuni, it has been said that Mahmud’s continuous invasions have deeply hurt India’s prosperity and scientific traditions. He wrote that due to these attacks Hindus had to scatter in all directions. In the new book, Mahmud Ghaznavi has been shown as a cruel and fanatic Muslim king.
New book will be taught from 2026
Books of the new syllabus can be taught in the session 2026-27. Let us tell you, the government is continuously revising NCERT books, especially History. Earlier in April, some part of the history related to the Mughals and Delhi Sultanate was removed from the Class 7 book. In July, some part was added in the class 8th book describing Babar as a murderer and ruthless.
