After 22 years, the Election Commission is doing special intensive revision (SIR) in Bihar so that ineligible people can be excluded from the voter list. All eligible citizens can be included in the list.

New Delhi: Chirag Paswan, the head of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), on Wednesday criticized the opposition’s double standards on the issue of voter list amendment in Bihar. He questioned how he could object to the same process he had earlier demanded. JD (U) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, while advocating the process, said that the Election Commission (EC) campaign was necessary to stop fake voting. After 22 years, the Election Commission is doing special intensive revision (SIR) in Bihar to exclude ineligible people from the voter list and ensure that all eligible citizens are included in the list. According to the election body, it will also help in removing duplicate entries of those voters who have enrolled in many places.

Union Food Processing Industry Minister Paswan told PTI videos inside the Parliament complex that it is beyond my comprehension that when there is a problem, you complain and also question the solution. He reminded that the opposition had earlier expressed concern over discrepancies in the voter list, especially after the Lok Sabha elections and during the Maharashtra assembly elections. He said that you said that the names of voters in Maharashtra were added overnight. Supporting the ongoing SIR of the Election Commission in Bihar, Paswan clarified that such a process has been adopted first four times using this process. He said that the only difference is that now it has become more convenient. Instead of physically submitting documents, all this can be done online. If necessary, you can appeal three times.

Opposition is scared of election results

Paswan also emphasized that no legitimate voter would be wrongly excluded. He said that the citizen of the country will not have to face any injustice. But even an intruder will not be given any illegitimate rights. JD (U) Executive Chairman Jha told PTI videos that opposition to the opposition has stems due to fear of election results. Jha said that he knows what the results will be in Bihar. Just as he questioned the Constitution before the Lok Sabha elections, he has now got another excuse. He pointed to the need for SIR in Bihar. He said that if someone has died, can he vote? If someone’s name is listed in two places, can he vote twice? This is why this process is necessary. The MP, citing the data of the Election Commission, said that 98 percent of the voters have already submitted their applications. He said that no real voter will be excluded.
