CM Devendra Fadnavis: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that he has instructed the state cyber police to contact Wikipedia and remove the ‘objectionable’ content about Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj on the popular website. Answering a question about some organizations in the state about allegedly marking wrong information, he told reporters that history will not be tolerated with history on open-source platforms like Wikipedia.

He further said that these objections came on the backdrop of the recently released Hindi film Chhava based on the life of Sambhaji Maharaj, son of prestigious Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Devendra Fadnavis said that I have asked the Inspector General of Maharashtra Cyber ​​Cell to talk with Wikipedia officials and remove the objectionable case against Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. We will not tolerate such writing on the open-source platform where historical facts have been distorted. I have ordered the officials to take whatever steps need to be taken. However, the Chief Minister said that Wikipedia is not operated from India, and it is managed by volunteers who have editorial rights.

CM warns

Devendra Fadnavis said that he can ask him to make some rules that will stop such distortion of facts. Please tell here that Wikipedia is a free online website with a free material, which is written and operated by a community of volunteers with open cooperation. Regarding this, he said that there is no geographical jurisdiction for social media. It was also earlier. We will discuss this with the Central Government. He further said that there is no uncontrolled freedom of expression. Action can be taken when obscenity crosses the limits. At the same time, the Chief Minister also warned against unauthorized sharing of cabinet agenda documents before the cabinet meeting. He said that I have instructed the offices of ministers not to share cabinet agenda in advance. If this continues, I will have to take action. Do not break the law.
