Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday demanded former Union Minister, former Governor and OBC leader Bandaru Dattatreya of Telangana to be the Vice President of India. Telangana Chief Minister A Revant Reddy said that this post should be given to Telangana as Telugu is the second most spoken language in the country and should be justice to the original speakers. Meanwhile, he described the resignation of former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar as “unfortunate”.
‘Telangana deserves its right’
CM Reddy said, “The next Vice President should be from Telangana. Telangana is entitled to its rights. You cannot do so much injustice to the people of Telangana. After Hindi, Telugu is the second most spoken language in India, and then Bengali comes. There is injustice to our people. I have asked the NDA government to appoint the next Vice President.” The Congress leader told the media, “If Dattatreya is made the Vice President, then some of your sins will be forgiven.”
Bandaru Dattatreya’s political journey
Bandaru Dattatreya was the Governor of Haryana during 2019-2021. In July 2021, he was made the Governor of Himachal Pradesh and on 21 July this year he left the post. Reddy said that he proposed Dattatreya’s name because nowadays there is a lot of discussion about the OBC and Dattatreya coming from the OBC community was removed from the post of Governor. He said that the captive Sanjay was also removed from the post of BJP President of Telangana, as he described these two leaders as the main face of Telugu OBC. Reddy said, “He sent a Telugu -speaking man back home from Delhi (referring to former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu). Reddy attacked the BJP -led central government saying,” He then removed Bandaru Dattatreya from the post of Governor and then removed Sanjay from the post of Telangana BJP President. ” Asked if the Congress would support Dattatreya’s candidature, he said, “I will try to help Bandaru Dattatreya and request his leadership to support him as well, but the Congress leadership will decide on it.” Reddy also alleged that as long as the NDA government is in power, the country is in danger and it will have to be removed.
