CM Sarma surrounds Congress on the issue of terrorism

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma surrounded the Congress after the court’s decision on the Malegaon blast case. CM Sarma said that the Congress had coined this word to please a particular community.

Biswa claims sarma maraon blast case verdict: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Thursday that the decision acquitting all the seven accused of the Malegaon blast has once again proved that there is no word like ‘Hindu terrorism’. He also said that “no Hindu can be a terrorist.” Sarma said in a press conference, “Union Home Minister Amit Shah said in Parliament on Wednesday that no Hindu can be a terrorist by philosophy and the court’s decision has also rejected the concept of Hindu terrorism.” He also alleged that the word ‘Hindu terrorism’ was coined by the then Congress government to please a particular community.

Did CM Sarma say?

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Hindu philosophy, culture, civilization or any religious book has never encouraged anyone to become a terrorist. Hindu and terror have been exactly the opposite concepts, and they cannot run together. All the accused in the case have been acquitted and our long objection to the word” Hindu terrorism “has been confirmed once again.”

Decision came after 17 years

Nearly 17 years after Maharashtra’s Malegaon blast, a special court on Thursday acquitted all the seven accused, including former BJP MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Purohit. The court said that there is no “reliable and concrete evidence” against him. Terrorism has no religion, but conviction cannot be on moral grounds, Special Judge A.K. Lahoti said while acquitting all the seven accused in the case. On the night of September 29, 2008, six people were killed and more than 100 were injured in an explosive explosion in Malegaon on the eve of Holy Ramadan month and Navratri. Ever since the court’s decision on the Malegaon blast, the leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party have been besieging Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, including the Congress. Other Chief Ministers of BJP have also targeted the Congress through posts. BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad held a press conference and demanded apology from Rahul Gandhi-Sonia Gandhi. It is believed that in the coming days, political mercury will be even more high on this issue. Opposition leaders are also objecting to the decision.
