The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Congress staged a protest in Delhi on Tuesday demanding the restoration of the full state status of the Union Territory.
J&K Congress holds protest in Delhi: The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Congress on Tuesday staged a protest at Jantar Mantar demanding restoring the status of the Union Territory. CC Venugopal of Congress General Secretary (Organization), Naseer Hussain, in-charge of All India Congress Committee of Jammu and Kashmir and other leaders including Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief Tariq Hameed Karra participated in this protest. After the protest, KC Venugopal said in a post on the social media platform X, “Jammu and Kashmir is the first example of a state-ruled state to create a union territory. Such democratic fall and insult to the people of the state is unacceptable. Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee is unacceptable to demand resting state status to Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir. Talked about the need to restore the honor of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Kharge and Rahul Gandhi wrote a letter
The Congress said loudly that the party will raise the demand to restore Jammu and Kashmir in the monsoon session of Parliament. Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi last week, insisting on passing the Bill to give full state status to Jammu and Kashmir in the monsoon session. In his joint letter to Modi, Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi had said that for the last five years, the people of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir have been constantly demanding the restoration of full state status. He had said that this demand is justified and is fully based on their constitutional and democratic rights.

Congress General Secretary and Jammu and Kashmir leader Ghulam Ahmed Mir said, “Congress Party ‘is running our prince, our right’ campaign. The world knows how our princely state is broken and our rights have been taken away. Today 10 months have passed, but the government has not fulfilled its promise. The general public is grinding. But we are thankful that our leaders have written letters to the government and reminded them of their promise and responsibility.
