Gujarat ATS: During interrogation, Syed revealed that he was planning to carry out terrorist incidents.. He got weapons from drones.
Gujarat ATS: Gujarat Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested three people including a doctor. The three accused were planning to carry out a major terrorist attack with weapons and chemicals. Gujarat ATS DIG Sunil Joshi said that the accused, one of whom is from Telangana and two from Uttar Pradesh, were in Gujarat to exchange weapons. The three accused had conspired to carry out terrorist incidents using a powerful poison ‘Ricin’. DIG Sunil Joshi said that the accused have also revealed that their handler used to send consignments of weapons through drones across the Pakistan border. Joshi told reporters that based on a tip-off, an ATS team on November 7 arrested Dr Ahmed Mohiuddin Syed, a resident of Hyderabad, Telangana, near Adalaj in Gandhinagar with two Glock pistols, a Beretta pistol, 30 live cartridges and four liters of castor oil.
Syed had taken MBBS degree from China.
During interrogation, Syed revealed that he was planning to carry out terrorist activities and had collected weapons from an isolated place in Kalol in Gandhinagar district. The official said that Syed’s handler Abu Khadija is a resident of Afghanistan who is associated with ISKP (Islamic State Khorasan Province). He has also been in touch with many people from Pakistan. Joshi said that Syed, who has obtained MBBS degree from China, was preparing a highly lethal poison named ‘Ricin’ to carry out a major terrorist attack. He had already started the necessary research. Equipment and raw materials had also been purchased and preliminary chemical processing had begun. Joshi said that Syed is highly educated and fundamentalist. Syed had planned to collect money and recruit people. This was part of a conspiracy to carry out major terrorist activities. He told that on the basis of information received from Syed’s mobile phone, the ATS team has also arrested the people who provided him weapons.

The official said that other accused Azad Suleman Shaikh and Mohammad Suhail Mohammad Salim, residents of Uttar Pradesh, were arrested from Banaskantha district. Joshi told that both of them had bought weapons from Hanumangarh in Rajasthan and given them to Syed. He said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused had conducted recce of many sensitive places in Lucknow, Delhi and Ahmedabad. When he was questioned about the source of the weapons, he revealed that his handler used to send arms consignments across the Pakistan border through drones. The officer said that a case has been registered against the three under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Indian Justice Code and Arms Act. Syed has been sent to ATS custody till November 17, while two others will be produced in the court on Sunday. He told that Gujarat ATS is also investigating the case in different states.
