A 42-year-old constable was stabbed to death by a criminal in Nizamabad city. The incident occurred when the accused was being taken to the police station. Police said on Saturday that the incident took place between 8.30 pm and 9 pm on October 17. Sheikh Riyaz (24), an accused in a case, attacked constable E. Pramod with a knife on his chest when the constable was taking the accused to Nizamabad city police station on a two-wheeler. A police officer said that the accused fled from the spot. Pramod suffered injuries and later died.

Police said that the accused also attacked a sub-inspector who was chasing the bike, due to which the inspector got injured. Expressing grief over the death of the constable, Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) B Shivadhar Reddy directed the Nizamabad Police Commissioner to form a special team to arrest the accused. The DGP has directed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Multi Zone-I S Chandrashekar Reddy to visit Nizamabad and monitor the situation. Nizamabad Police Commissioner P Sai Chaitanya told reporters that efforts are on to nab the accused and eight teams have been formed to nab him. The Police Commissioner said that it was unfortunate that people were busy clicking photographs instead of helping the police in taking the injured constable to the hospital.
Cash reward of Rs 50,000 on the accused
He said that even when our sub-inspector requested the auto rickshaw drivers to take the injured constable to the hospital, they did not stop him. Pramod was working in the Central Crime Station (CCS), a branch of Nizamabad Police Commissionerate. The Commissioner said that the police department stands with the bereaved family and will make every possible effort to help them. Police have announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000 on the accused. Police said that the accused has been involved in cases of robbery, dacoity and murder. He said that any credible information leading to identification, location or arrest is sought immediately. Police said that information about the accused can be given by dialing 100 or mobile number. Can be given on 8712659793 or 8712659777. The name of the person giving information will be kept secret. A case of murder has been registered against the accused. Further investigation is ongoing.
