Jammu: On Thursday, a vehicle of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) slipped from the road to 200 feet in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, killing three soldiers and injured 15 others. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Union Minister Jitendra Singh expressed grief over the loss of life and property and directed the officers to ensure the best possible care and assistance of the injured soldiers. The incident took place in Kadwa area at around 10:30 am when the jawans were returning to the bunker vehicle after an operation from Basant Garh.

This 187 battalion vehicle of force was carrying 23 soldiers. Two soldiers were martyred on the spot, while 15 others were injured. He was rushed to the hospital, where another jawan died, causing the number of martyred soldiers to three. Sinha said that he is saddened by the death of CRPF jawans. He said that we will never forget their exemplary service for the nation. My condolences are with bereaved families. I pray for the injured to recover quickly. Senior officials have been instructed to ensure best possible care and assistance. Singh also mourned the loss of life and property and said that the vehicle was carrying many brave soldiers of CRPF.

Local people have come forward to help voluntarily. All possible help is being ensured. On the other hand, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh said that a CRPF vehicle accident in Kandwa-Basantgarh area in Udhampur became a victim of accident. I am distressed to hear the news of the sacrifice of some soldiers in this accident. Many brave soldiers of CRPF were riding in the vehicle. I have just spoken to DC Saloni Rai, who are personally monitoring the situation and giving me information. Rescue operations have been started immediately.
