Sidhi (mp): A 20 -year -old Dalit woman who went to visit with her fiancé in Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh was allegedly raped by four people and also assaulted her male partner. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Arvind Srivastava told PTI-Bhasha that four people were involved in gang rape and three of them have been arrested. He said that five teams of police have been set up to catch the absconding accused. He told that the victim of Churhat police station area had gone to walk with her fiance on Tuesday. He went to a nearby hill after erecting his motorcycle on the roadside near Kathotha. Four people roaming in the area saw the couple.
Five teams formed for arrest
The police officer said that he beat the woman’s fiance and drove her away. Additional Superintendent of Police Srivastava said that after this the accused raped the woman in turn. Additional Superintendent of Police said that after the accused ran away from the clutches, the woman approached her fiance and both reached Semaria police station, where they told the police about the frightening incident. The ASP said that the police immediately registered a case on the complaint of both and sent them to the Community Health Center of Semaria for treatment. He said that five teams of police have been set up to catch the absconding accused. The opposition Congress targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government over the incident of gang rape and said that this crime has exposed the pathetic situation of law and order in Madhya Pradesh.
Humanity embarrassed by incident: Congress
State Congress President Jeetu Patwari said that this shameful incident tarnishes the entire humanity and also highlights the ‘terrible situation’ of law and order. The former minister said that in the last three years, 7,418 incidents of rape of Dalit and tribal women, 338 gang rapes and 558 murders have been registered in Madhya Pradesh. On average, seven Dalits or tribal daughters are falling prey to this cruelty every day. These figures prove the failure of the BJP government. Patwari alleged that crimes in the state have increased due to the inaction of the BJP government and the victims are not getting justice.
