Attack on Chief Warden: Two prisoners Ramu (27) and Kumar (30) escaped from Chodavaram sub-Jail at around 4 pm on Friday after attacking the main warden with a hammer.
Attack on Chief Warden: Two under consideration from a jail in Ankapalli district of Andhra Pradesh escaped after attacking the main warden of the jail. An official gave this information on Saturday. Ankapalli Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha told PTI-Bhasha that two remand prisoners Ramu (27) and Kumar (30) escaped from Chodavaram sub-Jell at around 4 pm on Friday after attacking the main warden with a hammer. He said that Panchayat Secretary Kumar was on remand since April and after completing the cooking work, he attacked the main warden with a hammer while returning the keys of the jail’s kitchen. Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha said that during the scuffle between the chief warden V. Veera Raju (45) and Kumar, Ramu ran towards the other room where the guards were sleeping and he locked the room from outside so that they could not help the injured and blood -soaked warden.
Six cases registered on Ramu
The SP said that later both warden managed to escape by stealing the keys of the main gate. All this happened in two-three minutes and was captured in CCTV. Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha said that after escaping from this jail, a case of attempt to murder and escape from legal custody was registered against Ramu and Kumar. According to Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha, Ramu is a vicious criminal, against whom six cases are registered in the cities of Ankapalli and Visakhapatnam. He was arrested by Anakapalli District Police and took him on remand. He said that the main attacker and government employee was involved in criminal misuse of Kumar Pension Fund and was arrested in the boundary of Anantagiri police station in Alli Sitaramraju (ASR) district.
Teams formed for arrest
Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha said that he (Kumar) was taken on remand by ASR District Police. He was in jail since April. It has been five months since he has gone out of jail. On Friday, he was involved in cooking in Panchayat Secretary Deputy Jail. Apart from this, Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha said that Chodavaram sub-jail is a small jail in which only 16 prisoners can remain. He told that there were 10 prisoners there on Friday. Meanwhile, many police teams are searching for him to catch Ramu and Kumar. Ankapalli Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha expressed confidence that both would be caught soon. Teams have been formed to catch both.
