Rajnath singh: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai met Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh at his residence in New Delhi on Monday. In the meeting, many important topics were discussed on the expansion of defense industries in Chhattisgarh, organizing army recruitment rally in Bastar and keeping naval ships in the name of rivers of Chhattisgarh. Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Subodh Kumar Singh were also present on the occasion. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai attracted the attention of the Defense Minister during the meeting that in the year 2012 near Bilaspur, the state government handed over about 1000 acres of land to the Indian Army. This land is currently with the army, but no active project is being used.
Suggestion to create a defense park
The Chief Minister urged that if this land is used in the establishment of industrial units, research centers or equipment construction parks related to defense production, it will not only pave the way for regional development, but will also strengthen the country’s defense industry network. He said that this area of Bilaspur is connected by rail and air, which is a suitable place for the establishment of any defense related industry or research unit. The Chief Minister suggested that the state government is ready to work with the central government to develop this area as a defense park. This will not only provide employment and training opportunities to local youth, but will also be able to create a new identity on the Chhattisgarh National Defense Production Map. The Chief Minister also underlined that at present there is no permanent camp of the Indian Army or Air Force in Chhattisgarh.
Army recruitment center also demanded
He urged the Defense Minister that if the training or recruitment center of the army is established in Bilaspur or Bastar region, then it will give local youth an opportunity to directly contribute to the nation service. Chief Minister Sai also told that the youth of Chhattisgarh have deep enthusiasm to join the army, especially among the youth of Bastar region. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh welcomed the Chief Minister’s proposal and said that the central government is committed to connect qualified youth from every corner of the country to the army. He assured to organize an army recruitment rally in Bastar soon. During the meeting, the Chief Minister also mentioned the cultural identity and glorious traditions of Chhattisgarh. He said that the rivers of the state Indravati and Mahanadi are not only water sources, but the soul of the state.
