The Railway Minister also expressed condolences to the families of those killed in the blast. Nine people were killed in a massive explosion in a slow-moving car at a traffic signal near Red Fort metro station. 20 people were also injured in this explosion and many vehicles were burnt to ashes. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said in a post on ‘X’ late on Monday night that he is extremely saddened by the explosion in Delhi. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured. He said that high alert has been issued with special security arrangements at all major railway stations. All passengers are being allowed to enter the station only after intensive checking. The luggage of the passengers is being checked by the dog squad. Hours after the blast, Northern Railway said that the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) are on high alert.

Station handed over to RPF and GRP
Said that tight security arrangements have been made at all the stations of Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR). The Railway Minister said that security arrangements at major stations like New Delhi, Old Delhi, Anand Vihar, Hazrat Nizamuddin and Ghaziabad were reviewed and all possible measures were taken to enhance security without causing inconvenience to passengers. Northern Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Himanshu Upadhyay told PTI Video that all the railway officers and security personnel deployed at these stations are on high alert with tight security arrangements. RPF personnel have been deployed at various places including the entry gate, exit gate and platform of the station. The Railway Minister said that several dog squads have been deployed to check the luggage of passengers and the premises around the station. Northern Railway officials said that close coordination is being maintained with the GRP.

The railway premises and surrounding areas are also being monitored through CCTV cameras. Officials said that persons behaving suspiciously are being searched thoroughly. Upadhyay said that we request all passengers to remain calm and cooperate with the security officials engaged in ensuring safety. A big revelation has come to light in the investigation of the car blast that took place near the Red Fort on Monday. Delhi Police sources said on Tuesday that the person driving the car that exploded near the Red Fort also had links with the Faridabad terror module. According to sources, Pulwama resident and doctor Omar Mohammad was driving the i20 car which was used in the blast near Red Fort metro station. Police sources said that ammonium nitrate, fuel oil and detonators may have been used in the blast.
