Delhi School Education Act 2025: Now private schools will not be able to run as per their wish in the capital Delhi. To stop arbitrary fees in private schools, the Delhi government has implemented the Delhi School Education (Fixation of Fees and Rules) Act 2025. Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has issued a gazette notification to officially implement it. Now more than 1500 private schools of Delhi will have to work within this law.

Schools cannot charge unnecessary fees

Now under this law, no school can charge more fees than necessary. The school can charge only that much fee which has been fixed. The school fees head will have to explain clearly why his fees are justified. Along with this, only the expenses related to studies will be included in tuition fees, the expenses of building or any kind of infrastructure will not be included in it. To file a complaint against the school in the committee, at least 15 percent of the parents will have to file a joint complaint against the school.

Fee hearing will be held at three levels

Under the Delhi Education Act 2025, any fee dispute will be heard at three levels. For monitoring arrangements, school-level fee regulation committee, district fee appeal committee and revision committee will be formed. The District Committee will be formed every year on 15th July and all the cases should be settled by 30th July. After the district level decision, an appeal can be made to the Revision Committee within 30 to 45 days. After this, the Revision Committee will give its decision within 45 days, which will remain in force for three years. If a solution is not found within 45 days, the case will automatically go to the District Appellate Committee.

Who will be included in the school level committee?

The school level committee will consist of school parent representatives (representation of women and weaker sections is mandatory), teachers (selected through lucky draw), a representative of the school management (committee chairperson), principal (member secretary) and a supervisor from the education department.
