Both the departments will have special focus on crowd management and security during the festive season. The senior police officer said that coordination will be established between all the three departments to ensure smooth traffic, fire safety arrangements and public safety during the festival season. A senior police officer said that contingency plans, crowd management in famous markets and additional forces will be deployed at sensitive places. The official said that during Diwali, huge crowd is seen in the markets and public places of Delhi. Our objective is to ensure the safety of citizens, prevent untoward incidents and manage traffic effectively.

Foot patrolling intensified across the city

The official said that joint teams have been formed to monitor key areas and respond immediately to any emergency. As part of the preparations, Delhi Police has already intensified foot patrolling across the city, with special attention being paid to markets, religious places and areas with heavy traffic. Senior officers of the respective districts are personally monitoring these patrols to maintain a strong presence and instill confidence among the citizens. The officer said the aim of the intensified foot patrolling is not only to deter potential criminals but also to increase community engagement. He said presence on the ground reassures the public and helps prevent crime. Apart from this, Delhi Police has also started mock drills at many major places to assess the readiness of the police to deal with emergency situations. The official further said that machans (temporary monitoring posts) are being set up at important establishments and crowded places, including major markets, to increase surveillance and crowd monitoring.

Special posts established

Another police officer said its objective is to monitor large crowds and take immediate action on any disturbance or suspicious activity. Delhi Traffic Police has prepared a detailed plan to manage the expected increase in vehicular movement, especially in areas and around temples. Special checkpoints have been set up at places where traffic is disrupted. Personnel are being deployed in three shifts to ensure uninterrupted movement. The official said that along with these measures, verification drives, bus and vehicle checking and awareness programs are being carried out under the Police Team Eyes and Ears scheme. Public announcements are being made in crowded areas to alert people, advising them to be alert, not to drive at high speed and not to park in no-parking zones. The senior police officer also said that night patrolling has been increased across the city, especially in jewelery markets, transport hubs and major shopping areas. The official said that we are maintaining strict vigil round the clock to prevent any untoward incident during festivals.
