New Delhi: In view of Pakistan’s nefarious antics, Delhi Police has intensified emergency preparations. The police has intensified the work of marking the cellars used as shelters during air strikes. Apart from this, a list of children and elderly is also being prepared. The official said on Saturday that all district units have been issued instructions to identify and identify the cellars of safe shelters, especially residential and commercial buildings, metro stations, where citizens can take shelter in the event of air strikes or missile attacks. A special campaign has also been started in various areas to prepare a list of weak persons including children and the elderly.

Police and security personnel will be comfortable in helping with data
A senior police officer said that its purpose is to ensure quick access to those who may require assistance during emergency. This data will help police and civil security personnel to function rapidly and more effectively. Police said that civil security volunteers, resident welfare associations (RWA) and local beat constables have been included for coordination of ground work. They are tasked to create awareness about how to react if the siren rings, including hiding in safe places, avoiding open places and following the advice of the police through official channels.
Police disaster response force deployed in the capital
Another official said that the Delhi Police is not only working on a quick response system, but is also actively educating people about the precautions to be taken in the event of air strikes. District DCP has also been instructed to review the available infrastructure which can be used for shelter or relief. The official said that the Police Disaster Response Force (DPDRF) has been deployed in the capital to deal with natural disasters, man -made emergency situations and serious events. He said that the newly formed force includes about 270 personnel including constables and sub-inspector, who are undergoing a six-week intensive training program organized by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

The official said that these personnel are being equipped with special skills to conduct rescue operations during incidents like fire, building collapse and urban floods. They are also being prepared to respond effectively in the event of air attack. It is reported that DPDRF is also being trained to deal with chemical, biological, radiological and atomic (CBRN) emergency conditions, increasing the scope of their response abilities.
About 150 personnel trained at NDRF center in Ghaziabad
So far, about 150 personnel have completed their training at the NDRF center in Ghaziabad, while the remaining members are expected to complete the training by the end of this month. After being trained, personnel will be divided into three companies, which can be deployed immediately during any crisis. The official said that to ensure a rapid response during the emergency, they are also exploring the possibility of deploying units at strategic places in South, East and New Delhi. Amid the ongoing military conflict between India and Pakistan, the authorities have urged the residents to remain calm and follow the official instructions.
