Delhi AQI: As the last week of October approaches in Delhi, both the weather and pollution have taken a turn. The minimum temperature in the capital was recorded at 21.8 degrees Celsius on Wednesday morning. This is about 3.4 degrees more than the normal temperature. morning condition

Till 8:30 am today, the relative humidity of Delhi was recorded at 91 percent, due to which there was a feeling of slight humidity and sticky air. The Meteorological Department says that there will be slight fluctuations in day temperature in the capital for the next few days. However, the condition of pollution is a matter of biggest concern at present. Actually, Delhi’s air quality (Air Quality Index – AQI) was recorded at 335 on Wednesday morning, which falls in the Very Poor category. According to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, the level of pollutant particles (PM2.5 and PM10) in Delhi’s air was found to be dangerously high till 9 am on Wednesday.

bad condition of these areas

In many areas of Delhi-NCR like Anand Vihar, Wazirpur, Dwarka and Okhla, the pollution level was recorded between 320 to 360. Experts say that due to stubble burning, vehicle pollution and cooling air, the situation may worsen in the next few days. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the wind direction remains north-westerly, due to which pollution from Punjab and Haryana is reaching Delhi. IMD said that due to drop in temperature and onset of cold air, pollution particles start settling down, due to which the AQI level increases rapidly.

AQI level

0 to 50- good

51 to 100- fair

101 to 200- medium

Experts’ advice

At present, Delhi is in the very poor category, which means that common people may have mild difficulty in breathing and asthma or heart patients may face more problems. The Meteorological Department and health experts have advised people to avoid early morning walks, use air purifiers at home and do not forget to wear masks while going out. Overall, Delhi is currently living in a strange balance. It is sunny during the day and cool in the evening, but breathing the air is still a challenge.
