Justice Yashwant Varma Cash Controversy: Justice Yashwant Verma of Delhi High Court has hanged the sword of investigation on corruption charges. The Supreme Court Collegium held a meeting on Monday regarding their case. During this meeting, after all the discussions, the conclusion came out and the collegium supported the decision to send Yashwant Verma to Allahabad High Court. However, after the General Meeting of Allahabad HC Bar Association, a petition has been filed with the Chief Justice of SC that the decision to send Justice Yashwant Verma to Allahabad HC should be banned.
Who is Yashwant Verma and what are the allegations?
Yashwant Verma is a judge of the Delhi High Court. He has been accused of corruption. Following these allegations, a meeting of the General Body of Allahabad High Court Bar Association was held on Monday inside the Library Hall. 11 proposals were passed by the members of the bar during this meeting. Justice Yashwant Verma was to be transferred to the Allahabad High Court, but after this meeting a petition has been filed with CJI not to send Verma to Allahabad High Court.
Appeal to central government and SC to impeach
The members of the Bar Association passed the resolution and said that the Allahabad High Court is not a dumping ground. The Bar Association has also appealed to Justice Yashwant Verma to impeach the Central Government and the Supreme Court. Meaning that the Bar Association is not in favor of making any tainted person a judge of Allahabad High Court.
CBI ED investigation demands against Yashwant Verma
It has also been proposed in the General Body Meeting that CBI and ED should be investigated against Yashwant Verma, for this both should be allowed to register the case. Just as an investigation against a civilian or politician is investigated in such cases, it should also be against them. Along with this, the Bar Association has also demanded that if the need is felt, then Yashwant Verma should also be taken in custody with the permission of CJI.
