ED raided 10 locations of former MLA MLA

The ED will soon present the charge sheet against him in the court.

The ED investigation revealed that Messrs Gangotri Enterprises Limited, along with its promoters, directors, guarantee, took advantage of credit facilities worth Rs 1129.44 crore from the consortium of seven banks led by Bank of India. Later, he diverted this amount to other companies and did not return the amount of banks. Due to this, the consortium of banks suffered a loss of about Rs 754.24 crore. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) seized crores of properties of former MLA Vinay Shankar Tiwari in November 2023.

Action in case of grabbing about 1129.44 crore of banks

The ED took this action by Vinay Tiwari’s company Gangotri Enterprises Limited in the case of grabbing about Rs 1129.44 crore to the bank’s consortium. In this case, the CBI had registered a case on the complaint of banks. After this, the ED also started investigation by registering a case under the Money Laundering Act on all the directors, promoters and guarantees of the company including former MLA Vinay Shankar Tiwari. In 2023, the zonal office of ED in the capital had seized a total of 27 properties of Vinay Tiwari in Gorakhpur, Maharajganj and Lucknow, including arable land, business complex, residential complex, residential plots etc.
