Kendriya Vidyalaya: Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved opening 57 new Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV), which will benefit more than 86,000 students.
Kendriya Vidyalaya: 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas will be opened in the country. More than 86,000 students will benefit from the opening of the school. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the opening of 57 new Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV), which will benefit more than 86,000 students. Seven of the 57 new KVs will be sponsored by the Union Home Ministry and the rest by the state governments. It is proposed to be opened in the newly sanctioned 20 KV in the districts where there is no KV yet despite a good number of central government employees. Vaishnav said that under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the opening of 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas under the civil sector across the country to meet the educational needs of children of the central government employees.
5862.55 crore will be spent
The establishment of 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas requires an amount of 5862.55 crore in nine years to nine years. This includes a capital expenditure component of 2585.52 crore and operational expenditure of Rs 3277.03 crore. It is worth noting that for the first time as exemplary schools for the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, these 57 kVs have been approved with the basic phase (pre-primary) of Balawatika three years. The central government approved KV’s plan in November 1962. As a result, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan was started as a unit of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Opening new KV is a continuous process. Regular proposals are received from various sponsor authorities including the Ministries, Departments, States and Union Territories of the Central Government to open new KV to the Ministry and KV.
Currently 1,288 Kendriya Vidyalaya
Currently there are 1,288 KVs of which three are in Moscow, Kathmandu and Tehran. The total enrollment of students is around 13.62 lakhs. The CCEA has approved the remaining 50 by 7 KV sponsored by the Ministry of Home Affairs and officials of the State and Union Territories. This proposal reflects an approach that promotes development in the past. Also ensures balanced representation in the north, south and west. Out of these 57 KV, 20 such districts are proposed to be opened where no KV is present at present despite a significant number of central government employees. Apart from this, 14 KV is proposed in aspirational districts, four KV leftist extremism in affected districts and five KV in NER and hilly areas.
