The Yogi government will give a modern form to Butler Palace of Lucknow. Visitors visiting here will also be given snacks and tea.
LUCKNOW: It will be developed while preserving the original structure of the palace. The entire work will be done on the PPP model. The responsibility of the work has been entrusted to the Lucknow Development Authority. The Yogi government is protecting the historical buildings of the state and developing it as a cultural and historical center. In this sequence, the government has started the process of making Butler Palace in Lucknow a ‘book cafe’.
According to the plan, various activities including exhibition, workshop and art gallery will be conducted in this book cafe. It is known that in 1915, King Mahmudabad laid the foundation of the palace in the memory of Sir Spencer Harcourt Butler, Deputy Commissioner of Awadh province. This process will be completed by the Private Public Partnership (PPP) medium by the specific team formed by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA). By March 2025, the conservation and development work of the Book Palace of Butler Palace will be completed.
Culture and heritage will be promoted through workshops
Under the project, tasks such as site clearance, structural repair, external front conservation, basic wiring and operation will be completed under the supervision of a specific team. Butler Palace will be used mainly as a book cafe, where the study material will be available for visitors as well as snacks and beverages. Apart from this, workshops and classes promoting local culture and heritage will also be organized in the book cafe to be built in Butler Palace.
The place will also be used for local artists and exhibitions throwing light on historical subjects and film screening. An art gallery will also be established here, which will tell the history of the palace and the surrounding area. Along with this, the light and sound show which shows the stories related to the history and publicity of Lucknow will also be able to operate here. Butler Palace will also be used for works like art exhibitions, craft fairs, local products and exhibition of handmade goods.
