Pakistan Boiler Factory Explosion: At least 15 people were killed and several injured when a boiler at a factory exploded in Pakistan’s Punjab province on Friday, an official said here. This incident took place in the morning in Faisalabad district of Punjab, which is about 130 km from Lahore. Faisalabad Deputy Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar said that this morning there was a massive explosion in a boiler in a chemical factory in Malikpur area, due to which a building and surrounding structures collapsed.
Fear of increasing death toll
“So far, rescue teams have pulled out 15 bodies from the debris and seven injured people have been taken to hospital,” Anwar said. The Commissioner said, “There is a fear that there may be more people under the debris. Rescue teams are engaged in removing the debris. The entire machinery of the district is engaged in rescue work.”
Punjab CM’s instructions
Punjab Police Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar directed that full assistance should be provided to Rescue 1122, Fire Brigade and all concerned agencies. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has expressed deep grief over the incident of boiler explosion in the chemical factory and expressed her condolences and sympathies towards the families and sought a detailed report about the incident from the Faisalabad Commissioner.
