Shivganga Bus Accident: A horrific road accident occurred in Tamil Nadu late on Sunday night. There was a fierce head-on collision between two government buses in Sivagangai district of Tamil Nadu. In this accident, 11 people have died tragically and 54 people are injured. The collision was so dangerous that the entire bus was blown to pieces. PM Modi and Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin have announced ex-gratia to the families of the deceased and the injured.

Police said that 11 people died and 54 were injured in a head-on collision between two government buses near here on Sunday. According to an official release, all 11 people (9 women, 2 men) died on the spot in this accident that took place in the evening. The injured were taken to government hospitals for treatment. Regarding the reason for the accident, the police officer said, “It was a head-on collision, the reason is not clear, we are investigating it.”
A senior doctor at Sivagangai Government Medical College Hospital told reporters that all arrangements have been made for the care and treatment of those injured in the accident. The accident occurred at Vairavanapatti near Tirupattur under Nachiyapuram police limits on the Tirupattur-Pillayarpatti route, about 15 km from Karaikudi.
Announcement of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed grief over the deaths in a road accident near Sivagangai in Tamil Nadu. Modi said in a post on Twitter: “The loss of lives in the accident in Sivagangai, Tamil Nadu is very sad. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured people get well soon.” The Prime Minister also announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to the families of each deceased. A PMO statement said that Rs 50,000 would be given to the injured.

The state government will also give three lakhs
Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed grief over the accident and the deaths. The CM said that he has directed District Collector and District Incharge Minister KR Periyakruppan to provide all possible help to the affected people and ensure proper treatment of the injured. He also announced a compensation of Rs 3 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh to the seriously injured. CM announced to give Rs 50,000 to those with minor injuries.
