Fierce cracker explosion during Amman temple festival, four killed

MK Stalin has expressed deep condolences and sympathy to the bereaved families. The incident occurred when a person tried to test the firecrackers.

TamilNadu: A fierce accident occurred in Salem district of Tamil Nadu. In which four people died. Two boys are also among the dead. There was a stir in the village after the accident. Police reached the spot and started relief and rescue operations. Chief Minister MK Stalin has expressed deep condolences on the incident. Police said four people, including two boys, died in a cracker blast in Kanjanapanpatti village of the district on Friday night.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed his heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the bereaved families and announced an ex-gratia amount of three lakh rupees to the victim families on Saturday. Police said that the festival was organized at Draupadi Amman Temple. Preparations were being made to bring crackers from a two -wheeler to break the cracker at the ceremony. Meanwhile, a fire broke out near Pusaripatti bus stand in Kajanayakepatti village at around 8.50 pm on Friday night in the bundle of firecrackers kept in the sack. A police officer said that the incident happened when a person tried to test the firecrackers.

Assistance of three-three lakh rupees to victim families

He said that the accident took place about one kilometer from the temple where a large number of people had gathered for the celebration. The deceased have been identified as Selvaraj (29), resident of Kottamedu, Kanjanayakenapatti, and two 11 -year -old residents of Gurvalliur, while Lokesh (20) died in Salem Government Medical College Hospital. The Chief Minister said in a statement that I have been deeply shocked and pained after hearing tragic news. The Chief Minister has announced a assistance of three lakh rupees to the victim families.

AIADMK General Secretary also expressed sympathy

AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi’s Palaniswami said that the news of the tragic death of four people in a cracker accident during a temple festival in Kanjnaikainpatti village is very painful. I express my deep condolences and sympathy to the families of the dead. He said that proper protocols were not followed during the temple festival and security was not provided. Palaniswami urged the state government to take proper measures to increase relief amount and ensure security protocol so that such accidents do not happen again.
