Mumbai: Passengers flying from Mumbai will now have to loose their pockets. Flying from Mumbai International Airport will become expensive from the next financial year 2025-26 as the private airport operator Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) has proposed a huge increase of Rs 463 in the user development fee (UDF) for international passengers, while domestic passengers will be charged a fee of Rs 325.
International passengers are currently charged with a user development fee (UDF) of Rs 187, which is proposed to increase to Rs 650, while domestic passengers do not have to pay any such fee. A source told PTI that the proposed fee card, which has been sent to the Airport Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) for approval. The regulator is in line with the approved fee for MIAL. According to the AERA website, along with this, MIAL has proposed a 35 percent deduction in landing and parking fee at its facility for the fourth control period (FY 2024-2029), giving great relief to aviation companies.
It is known that Mumbai International Airport is the second busiest airport in the country. It is operated by Joint Enterprise Company Mumbai International Airport Limited (Mial). The Adani Group has a 74 percent stake of Mial, while the remaining 26 percent stake with the Airports Authority of India.
