Former Malaysia PM Abdullah Badawi dies at the age of 85

Malaysian Former PM Death: According to hospital sources, Abdullah was admitted to the State Institute of Heart in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday after complaints of breathing.

Former Malaysia Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmed Badawi died on Monday, April 14, 2025 at the age of 85. This has been confirmed by the National Heart Institute of Kuala Lumpur. Abdullah, who was affectionately known as “Pak Lah”, was struggling with a disease called pneumothorax. After his health deteriorated, he was admitted to the hospital on April 25, 2024, but he could not be saved despite all the efforts of the doctors.

According to hospital sources, Abdullah was admitted to the State Institute of Heart in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday after a complaint of difficulty in breathing. Here a team of cardiologists was constantly monitoring their situation. In view of his condition, he was kept in a critical care unit. He breathed his last at 7:10 pm on Monday evening. The news of his death has raged in Malaysia.

Abdullah Ahmed Badawi took over as Prime Minister of Malaysia in 2003. This was the time when Mahathir Mohammad, the veteran leader of the country and Prime Minister for 22 years, resigned from his post. Abdullah served the country as Prime Minister from 2003 to 2009. During his tenure, Malaysia took many important steps towards economic stability and social reforms. His gentle and simple leadership style made him extremely popular among the public.

Abdullah, popularly known as “Pak Lah”, will always be remembered for his simple nature and art of joining people. Many Malaysian leaders and citizens have mourned his death. Remembering his legacy, people are appreciating his contribution.

Abdullah is survived by his wife and children, towards whom the countrymen have expressed their condolences. After his death, condolence meetings are being organized in many places in the country. Malaysia has lost a leader who played an important role in taking the country on the path of unity and progress.
