New Delhi: The Delhi government has announced the guidelines for the entrance examination in schools. The Delhi government said that an entrance examination will be conducted for admission in class 6-8 in 33 out of 75 CMs Shri schools. CM Shri School Admission Test will be held for the session 2025-26. Under Section 2 of the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009, the objective of CM Sri Schools nominated as ‘specified category’ institutions is to create a model public school with modern infrastructure and new teaching practices with National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The entrance exam will be a “fair, transparent and merit-based selection process”. Only students living in Delhi and currently in a recognized school in Delhi will be eligible to apply to apply in class 6-8 during the 2025-26 session.

Admission will be completed by 15 September

It has been said that at least 50 percent of the available seats will be reserved for students currently studying in government or government aided schools in Delhi, including the Directorate of Education (DOE), MCD, NDMC, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas. The guidelines further mention that according to the government policy, students related to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creeme Layer) categories and special requirements (CWSN) will be provided 5 percent discount in eligibility marks. The online application window will open on July 30 and will be active till August 15 and the admit card will be available from August 23, while the exam is scheduled between 11 am and 1.30 pm on August 30. According to the guideline, the results will be declared on September 10 and admissions will be completed by 15 September. It will be bilingual and will include five major segments – Hindi, English, General Knowledge, Mental Qualification and Numerical Affairs. The total duration of the examination will be 150 minutes, in which CWSN candidates will be given additional time as per the current criteria.

100 crore allotted for CM Shri schools

According to the Directorate, examination centers will be set up in various schools under the Directorate to ensure geographical access. The Delhi government can inaugurate its newly announced CM Shri schools in September. Preparations for the operation of institutions have intensified. The initiative announced earlier this year is to provide high-quality, education prepared for future in government schools. Earlier, Education Minister Ashish Sood had said that the government has given provisional shortlist to 75 schools to be developed under CM Shri initiative. Each school will equip AI-competent libraries, enhanced reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) tools, smartboards, biometric appearance systems and robotics laboratories to promote innovation among students. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had allocated Rs 100 crore for CM Shri schools in his budget speech earlier this year.
