Goa Nightclub Owner Escaped: Goa nightclub owners Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra have fled to Thailand. Both of them are wanted in the fire accident. According to a statement from Goa Police, the owner of Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora fled to Phuket on an Indigo Airlines plane at 5:30 am on December 7, just hours after the accident. Police have sought help from Interpol to find them. Both of them are the owners of the same night club where 25 people died in a fire late Saturday night. Most of the dead were staff and five tourists.
Revealed from immigration records
The escape of the owners came to light when a massive search was launched after the FIR was registered and during investigation, immigration records revealed that the duo had flown to Phuket, Thailand on IndiGo flight 6E 1073 at 5:30 am on Sunday, December 7. The officer said that soon after the FIR was registered, the police acted swiftly and sent a team to Delhi to raid the addresses of the two accused. Since they were not present, a notice was pasted at the gate of their house, the officer said, adding that by December 7, the Bureau of Immigration (BOI) had issued a lookout circular against the two accused at the behest of the Goa Police. However, during this time it was revealed that both of them had fled from Delhi to Thailand immediately after the incident, on the morning of 7 December.
Chief operational staff arrested
“Goa Police has taken further steps to coordinate with the Interpol Division of CBI to arrest both Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra at the earliest,” the officer said. The owners are abroad, but the police have arrested Bharat Kohli, a member of the management and chief operational staff, from Delhi after getting a transit remand. So far, the club’s Chief General Manager Rajiv Modak, General Manager Vivek Singh, Bar Manager Rajiv Singhania and Gate Manager Riyanshu Thakur have been arrested.
