Ranchi News: Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar said on Saturday that the objective of both the ruling party and the opposition should be public welfare and development of the state. He urged the MLAs to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach the last person of the state. While addressing the silver jubilee function of Jharkhand Assembly in Ranchi, Gangwar said that I believe that democracy is strengthened by healthy discussion, not by confrontation. The objective of both the government and the opposition should be public welfare and development of the state. Jharkhand Assembly came into existence on November 22, 2000. He said that the Assembly is the central pillar of democracy. MLAs elected by the public not only play an important role in the law-making process of the state, but also act as a strong bridge between the public and the government. Gangwar said that as a public representative, the biggest responsibility of an MLA is to maintain the trust of the public. The authority given by the public is an opportunity to serve, it is not a means of power.

Best MLA award to Raj Sinha

Said that MLAs should ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach the last person of the state. He further said that this special day is an opportunity to take a pledge that we all will work together to make Jharkhand politically strong, economically self-reliant and socially prosperous. On this occasion, the Governor also presented the Best MLA award to Raj Sinha, three-time MLA of Bharatiya Janata Party from Dhanbad Assembly constituency. On this occasion, Sinha said that I had never thought that I would be present here as the best MLA. I express my gratitude to all those who selected me for this award. I dedicate this award to the people of Dhanbad. This will motivate me to work harder.

Families of martyred soldiers honored

Speaking at the programme, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that Jharkhand is celebrating the 25th year of its establishment, but it is still struggling to get rid of poverty, malnutrition and backwardness. Our government has resolved to make everyone economically, socially and educationally strong. Under this resolution, we have taken steps to make the women of the state self-reliant and excellent schools are being established for better education. We have also launched the ‘Right to Service’ program to commemorate the silver jubilee of the establishment of the state. These steps will prove to be milestones in the future. In the ceremony, the families of soldiers of Jharkhand who sacrificed their lives for the country were honored. On this occasion, officials of the Assembly Secretariat and players who have brought glory to the state in national and international competitions were also honoured.
