Mamata Banerjee: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made a sensational revelation on Thursday and attacked the Election Commission fiercely. Mamta said that Amit Shah’s move was that if the SIR process is stopped in Bengal, then President’s rule will be imposed there. Addressing a rally in Muslim-dominated Murshidabad, Banerjee also said that the state was not foolish enough to fall into the Centre’s trap. He urged people not to be afraid of the enumeration process but simply file their documents. Taking aim at the BJP, the TMC chief claimed that more than half of those killed in SIR-related incidents across the country were Hindus. He said in the rally that do not be afraid of SIR. If we had not allowed this, they would have imposed President’s rule. Do you understand Amit Shah’s move? We will fight, we will win. They can’t starve us.
Said- BJP dug its own grave
Said they cannot take our property. His comments come a day after he accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of hatching a SIR conspiracy to destabilize voters and capture Bengal through deceit. He said that the hasty amendments have created panic and the BJP has dug its own grave. He said that BJP is doing religious politics regarding Special Intensive Review (SIR). More than half of those killed in SIR-related incidents were Hindus. Said that do not cut the branch on which you are sitting. The TMC supremo also reiterated that she will never allow NRC or detention camps to be built in West Bengal. She announced amid loud applause that I will not allow NRC or detention camps to be built in Bengal. Even if they cut my throat, no one will be thrown out.
Waqf property will not be taken away
He said that if anyone is removed, we will bring him back legally. Bengal will remain safe and inclusive. Referring to the ongoing Waqf dispute within the ruling party, Banerjee accused some groups of spreading misinformation that religious places were being included in land records instead of mosques or cemeteries. He said that not a single Waqf property will be snatched away. Clarifying that the data of about 82,000 Waqf properties is already available on the Centre’s portal. He said that we have passed a resolution in the Assembly that Waqf properties cannot be taken by force. The Mutawalli (custodian of Waqf property) will upload the documents and give them to the state. There is nothing to fear.
