This has been officially confirmed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Who was Mohammad Sinwar?
Mohammad Sinwar was the younger brother of former Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, who was killed by the Israeli army in October 2023. After Yahya’s death, Mohammed took command of Hamas’s military branch and became the real leader of the organization in Gaza Strip. According to the Israeli Defense Minister Yov Galant and Intelligence Agencies, the attack was carried out last week near the European Hospital in Khan Younis, which was using Hamas Command and Control Center.
Bodies of Sinwar and 10 comrades found in the tunnel
According to the report of Saudi channel Al Hadath and The Wall Street Journal, the bodies of Mohammad Sinwar and 10 other colleagues were recovered from a tunnel in this attack. In the attack, Hamas’s Rafah Brigade Commander Mohammad Shabana has also been confirmed to be killed. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said in his statement, “We have killed Mohammad Sinwar. This is another big success in our fight against Hamas. Whoever will take up arms against Israel, we will not spare him.”
However, there is no official reaction to this claim from Hamas so far. Earlier, when the news of Yahya Sinwar’s death came, Hamas dismissed the claims of Israel and described it as part of the publicity.
