Woman Commited suicide due to Ant Fear: A surprising case has come to light from Hyderabad, Telangana. In Sangareddy district, a woman embraced death only because she was afraid of licking. This news is surprising. A 25-year-old woman in Sangareddy district committed suicide due to myrmecophobia (fear of ants), a very rare phobia, police said.

‘I can’t live with these ants’

Police said that the woman was married in 2022 and had a three-year-old daughter. On November 4, she was found hanging from the fan at her home. On the same day, the woman had dropped her daughter at a relative’s house, saying that she would take her after cleaning the house. Her husband, who had gone to work in the morning, returned in the evening and found the door locked from inside. Police said that with the help of neighbors he broke the door and found his wife hanging from the fan. A suicide note recovered from the spot read, “Sir, I’m sorry, I can’t live with these ants. Take care of your daughter. Be careful. Annavaram, Tirupati Rs 1,116… Don’t forget Yellamma Vaadi Biyyam (rice offering).”

Woman was afraid of ants since childhood

Police said they were told that the woman was afraid of ants since childhood and had sought consultation at a hospital in Mancherial. Police said, “It seems that he might have seen ants while cleaning and might have taken this step out of fear.” Anita Raiirala, superintendent of the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) of the Telangana government, said on Saturday that myrmecophobia is very rare. I have never seen anything like this before.

Take advice from psychiatrists

The Superintendent said that often phobias start in childhood and the person is not able to tell about it. He said that phobias can be treated with exposure therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and medications are available to reduce anxiety. Raiirala said that the woman who allegedly committed suicide due to myrmecophobia may be suffering from depression. He suggested consulting psychiatrists for the treatment of phobia.
