Waqf Act: More than dozens of petitions have been filed in the apex court to challenge the Waqf Act 2025. The central government has filed a cavity and urged that it should also be heard before issuing the order in this matter.

Many states have filed in support of this law in the Supreme Court. At the same time, the constitutionality of the Waqf Act, 1995 has been challenged. A CJI -led bench has listed 10 petitions. But more than 70 petitions have been filed, including religious institutions, MPs, political parties and states.
Petition filed against Waqf Amendment Act

The central government has filed a cavity and urged that it should also be heard before issuing the order in this matter. Meanwhile, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Haryana have also filed an intervention application in the Supreme Court and supported this law and urged them to present their case. At the same time, petitions opposing the Act have claimed that the new Waqf law is against the Fundamental Rights like Constitution Article 14, 15 (Equality), 25 (Religious Freedom), 26 (System of Religious Affairs) and 29 (Minority Rights). Apart from this, the petition has also told against Article 300A.
