Heavy damage in Delhi due to rain after summer

The day temperature in Delhi reached 42 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, but by evening, the weather with strong wind, rain and hail changed the attitude. People got relief from the scorching heat, but life became completely disturbed. In many places, people were seen running in search of roof and shelter to avoid rain and hail.

Somewhere the trees were uprooted and somewhere the electricity

After the scorching summer, where the weather was pleasant in Delhi, then the trees fell somewhere in many areas. Along with this, a disabled person died after falling a pillar of high mask light in Nizamuddin area. The pillar fell on his tricycle, which also damaged a car. Trees and hoardings fell due to strong winds in areas like Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Gurugram. In some places, houses also collapsed.

Traffic affected badly, affects metro and flights

Metro services of Red, Yellow and Pink Line in Delhi NCR were affected by the weather. Trees and other items fell on several metro tracks, temporarily trains. Noida Metro completely stopped its operations for some time. Not only this, air services were also affected by this storm-rain. Indigo flight going to Srinagar had to make emergency landing due to bad weather. It is a matter of relief that all passengers are safe.

Electricity failure, companies clarified

Power supply in many parts of Delhi was disrupted due to thunderstorms and rains. Both BSES and Tata Power-DDL issued a statement regarding the situation.

BSES said:
Electricity was disrupted in many areas due to falling on the power lines of trees and their branches in the city. The operation and maintenance team is on high alert. In some areas, the power supply had to be temporarily discontinued as a precaution.

Tata Power-DDL said:
Electricity supply was disrupted in many areas including Bawana, Narela, Jahangirpuri, Civil Lines, Burari. The damaged wires are being repaired rapidly. Teams are getting obstructed due to falling trees in reaching some areas.

Appeal to citizens to be restrained

Both power companies have appealed to consumers to maintain restraint. He also assured that the restoration work is being expedited and public security is being given top priority.
