He said that the prevalence of this mantra can be understood from the fact that many scholars and great personalities of the country like Maharishi Aurobindo, Madam Bhikaji Cama, Mahakavi Subramaniam Bharati, Lala Hardayal, Lala Lajpat Rai and others added ‘Vande Mataram’ to the titles of their newspapers and magazines. He said that Mahatma Gandhi also used to end his letters with ‘Vande Mataram’ for many years. Hosabale said that on the auspicious occasion of the 150th anniversary of the composition of Vande Mataram, a wonderful mantra that worships the motherland and spreads consciousness in the entire nation, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh gratefully remembers and pays tribute to the creator of the national song, Revered Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay.

‘Vande Mataram’ became the soul of the nation

He said that Tagore had mesmerized the audience at the national convention of Congress in 1896 by singing ‘Vande Mataram’ composed in 1875. He said that since then this song has become not only a mantra of patriotism but also a national anthem, the voice of national consciousness and the soul of the nation. Hosabale said that after this ‘Vande Mataram’ became the slogan of all the warriors of India’s freedom struggle including the Bengal Partition Movement. He said that on the completion of 150 years of the composition of ‘Vande Mataram’, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh appeals to the entire society including the volunteers to become active in nation building based on the idea of ​​’self’ and take inspiration from the national song and enthusiastically participate in the programs organized on this occasion.
