Gaurav Bhatia also told Sonia Gandhi, MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra that if he does not trust elections, he should resign from Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha membership.
New Delhi: The BJP said on Saturday that if Congress leader Rahul Gandhi does not trust the Election Commission, then he should resign from the Lok Sabha membership on “moral grounds”. At the same time, he also criticized him for not giving written manifesto on his claim of “vote theft”. BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia also told Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi and party MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra that if they do not trust elections, they should resign from membership of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. Bhatia said in a press conference at the BJP headquarters here that you (Rahul Gandhi) make baseless allegations in front of the media and then refuse to give when the constitutional institution seeks evidence and written announcement. The BJP spokesperson read the excerpt from an old Supreme Court verdict, saying that the apex court had said that there was no doubt on the honesty of the Election Commission and it is well known that the Election Commission has created its reputation as a fair institution for years.
Sonia and Priyanka also sought resignation
Bhatia said that if Rahul Gandhi does not trust the comments of the Election Commission and the Supreme Court, then do one thing: First you resign from the membership of Lok Sabha. Priyanka Gandhi also resign. Sonia Gandhi also resign on the least moral grounds because you are questioning the same Election Commission. He said that after this you go to the Supreme Court, High Court and people. Bhatia also demanded that the Chief Ministers of Congress -ruled Karnataka, Telangana and Himachal Pradesh should also resign, because their top leaders do not trust the Election Commission. Bhatia said that whatever you like, you accept. Whatever is inconvenient, you reject it and attack the Election Commission. It will not work.
Vote theft claim is false
Rahul Gandhi said on Friday that he had taken the oath of the Constitution inside Parliament, which was in response to the Election Commission seeking an affidavit under the oath of “vote theft”. Addressing the vote rights rally in Bengaluru, he also said that the Karnataka government should investigate the inclusion of fake voters in the state during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He said that the Election Commission has asked me to file an affidavit and give information under the oath. I have taken oath of constitution inside Parliament, in front of the Constitution. Bhatia termed Gandhi’s claim of “vote theft” as false. Said that Rahul aka ‘chaotic element’ (chaotic element) has now become Rahul aka ‘destroyer’ (destructive). He wants to destroy the Constitution and Indian democracy of India. He also accused the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha of being “immature” and starting a war against constitutional institutions by threatening the Election Commission officials.
