New Delhi: Leaders of opposition party India Block can hold a meeting on the dinner on August 7 to discuss the strategy on the special intensive revision (SIR) issue. Sources gave this information on Sunday. He said that opposition parties are also planning to take out a march to the office of Election Commission of India on August 8 to protest against the SIR process of voter list. This meeting is being held in the monsoon session of Parliament amidst the deadlock on the SIR issue. This session is almost in vain because the demand for the opposition’s discussion has not received any positive response from the ruling coalition. According to sources, the leaders of India Block Party will hold a meeting on the dinner on August 7 to discuss their strategy on the SIR issue. This meeting is taking place at a time when elections have been announced for the post of Vice President and many opposition leaders have indicated that they may also field a joint candidate.
Opposition opposition to SIR in Bihar
Opposition parties have expressed the possibility of rigging in votes on the SIR happening in Bihar. Opponents have said that many people will be deprived of their franchise. They have called it “vote ban” and “vote theft”. The parties of Indian block are protesting inside and outside Parliament. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Friday cited a decision by former Lok Sabha Speaker Balram Jakhar, saying that the House cannot debate the functioning of a constitutional institution like Election Commission. He indicated to reject the demand of the opposition’s discussion. He also said that the decisions on this issue have to be decided by the presidents of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Opposition parties have said that they will continue their protests till the government is ready to debate in Parliament.
BJP is afraid of discussing SIR: TMC
