New Delhi: Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday that India is constantly talking to the US on the proposed bilateral trade agreement (BTA). Piyush Goyal said that the government will protect the interests of the country and the people, as it is not appropriate to take any steps in haste. He said that all the business talks of the country are moving well to ensure the spirit of ‘India first’ and the developed India.

When asked about the progress of Indo-US-US BTA, Goyal said that I can only share that all business conversations are moving well with the spirit of India and developed our way for developed India 2047. We have said many times before that we never negotiate by keeping a gun. The staples of the time are good that they promote that it should be fast, but it is never good to make hurry till the country can keep the interest and public interest safe.

The first phase of the agreement will be completed between September to October

It is said that the two countries have targeted to finalize the first phase of the agreement between September to October this year, which aims to double the bilateral trade by 2030 to double the current $ 191 billion to US $ 500 billion. On the India-EU (EU) trade agreement, Goyal said that trade talks move forward when the two sides are sensitive to each other’s concerns and needs.
