79th Independence Day: Indian High Commissioner Vikram Doraswami in Britain inaugurated the ceremony by hoisting the tricolor. The echo of the national anthem was heard in the India House premises.

London: Hundreds of people of Indian origin gathered at the Indian High Commission in London to celebrate the 79th Independence Day of the country with slogans of music, dance and patriotic on Friday. Indian High Commissioner Vikram Doraswami inaugurated the ceremony by hoisting the tricolor in Britain. After this, the echo of the national anthem was heard in the India House premises in Aldwich. On this occasion, he read excerpts from President Draupadi Murmu’s address to the nation. Doraiswami told PTI-language that Independence Day is an opportunity to come to India and re-association with India for not only Indian citizens, but also for friends of India. He said that people from all our communities were present here, who were representing the colorful shade of India.

Free trade agreement milestone

Said that from Kashmir to Kerala, from Punjab to North East, all communities were represented here. This is a great feeling because it is a chance for everyone to join India’s spirit. To salute the flag and raise the flag with pride. Considering the Indo-Britain relations, the ambassador referred to the important milestone of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) earlier this year, which he said that it means that bilateral relations are ready for further days in all areas. Dorawami said that the free trade agreement is an important opportunity to install a milestone for the future. We have been an independent country and a visionary civilization for 79 years. We do not pay much attention to our past, we are proud of our past, we take lessons from the events that have not been pleasant, but we believe that the journey has to move forward and we have to look forward.

Yogesh Alekari honored

Talking to PTI-Bhasha in Hindi, Athawale said that today I got an opportunity to interact with diaspora in Britain and leave my mark in every sphere of life here. I will be happy to convey the message to Prime Minister Modi that Indians living in Britain love this country so deeply and celebrate Independence Day with the enthusiasm of patriotism. The guest minister and the High Commissioner honored Yogesh Alekari for the achievement of visiting Europe and Africa with the world’s first black woman Ananya Prasad and India -made motorcycle to cross the Atlantic Ocean alone and without any support.

Descendants of Sardar Kartar Singh also honored

Among those who were honored at the ceremony were the great freedom fighter Sardar Kartar Singh Sarabha resident descendants Sukhjinder Kaur and his grandson Ashan Singh. Sardar Kartar Singh Sarabha was born in May 1896 and was sentenced to death in November 1915 and hanged. He joined the Ghadar Revolutionary Party at the age of 15, inspired by the party’s veteran Sohan Singh Bhakna. Doraiswami said in his closing speech that it is very proud to know that there are many families among us whose ancestors contributed to India’s independence in many ways. The program concluded with a cultural program, including violin playing and ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Bharat Hum John Se Pyara Hai’ on the patriotic tunes of Kathak and Bharatanatyam.
